Classic Pittsburgh Wedding
Seriously we can’t tell you how excited we are to share Caitlin and Daniel’s classic Pittsburgh wedding with you. Caitlin grew up going to the New Willimington Presbyterian Church right next door to Westminster College. So when she was getting married Caitlin asked if we could do their pictures on campus. What you need to know is not that a Westminster College wedding is gorgeous, that’s a no brainer. The real thing is what it says about Caitlin and Daniel. These two love classic beauty and timeless tradition. From old stones and ivy to the organ playing during the processional everything about their wedding was timeless. (Even their engagement session at Chatham College was classic. Check that out here)
Cherishing that which endures
When you talk to Caitlin and Daniel you find out quickly what’s important to them–family. If you talked with them they would tell you that’s what endures, that’s what matters, that’s what’s most important to them. In light of this, there are two beautiful pieces from their wedding story that deserve to shared.
Caitlin’s veil has a story of it’s own. Caitlin’s veil was made from the handkerchief her great grandmother carried at her wedding. When her grandmother was married it was made into the headpiece and she walked down the aisle in it. Then when her great aunt was married she wore it as well. When it was her mother’s turn to get married she wore it. Now was finally the day Cailtin would carry the tradition that has stood the test of time. This family tradition started over 100 years ago and Caitlin looked so beautiful in it.
The second story are Caitlin’s grandparents. At a lot of weddings there is an anniversary dance. All of the married couples gather on the dance floor for a slow dance and slowly they are narrowed down until the longest married couple is left. But this wasn’t how Caitlin and Daniel planned their wedding day. They knew who had been married the longest, her grandparents. So they had them come alone to the dance floor to enjoy a moment being honored for their 65 years of marriage. They danced to the same song they used to dance to during college. You can see both the tears and the joy on their faces.
Needless to say we are still so in love with Caitlin and Daniel’s amazing wedding!
