One of the best things to have happened to us while living in the Chicago area was finding The Green Medical Practice. Dr. Paul Schattauer is an amazing family doctor who treats us like people. Any parent of a young child knows how frequent doctor visits are. While this is typically a big hassle and most children don’t want to go, not so with the our kids and “the Green Doctor.” A few mornings ago we needed to go in for Nathan and Deborah’s scheduled well child visit. In the morning I asked Nathan, “What do we get to do today Buddy?” After a few guesses I ask rhetorically, “Are we going to go see the Green Doctor this morning?” His eyes lit up and he yelled excitedly, “THE GREEN DOCTOR!”
We all love seeing Dr. Paul. He supports our decisions as parents, truly cares about us and the kids, and surprises me on how current he is in medical literature. I could go on and on here about how Dr. Paul takes his medical practice seriously, yet he balances that out by not shoving antibiotic prescriptions at us when one of the kiddos is sick. He understands our concerns with vaccinations and supports our religious beliefs. He pushes us to stay healthy and out of his office by suggesting ways we can improve our exercise routines and eat better. We also love the fact that Dr. Paul has tried to create an alternative to the traditional practices in the medical field. He doesn’t take insurance, rather, he puts his prices well below any doctor around. We never have to haggle prices and are always told up front what everything is going to cost. As self pay clients who use Samaritan Ministries this works amazingly well.
